Priyanka’s Apologizes for Remarks & Hopes People Forgive Her

Former Miss World beauty pageant title winner and National Award winner Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra made headlines as she became an international face. The actress- producer has recently produced a Sikkimese movie. However, soon after she spoke about the movie that she produced she came under backlash. The reason – Priyanka referred the northeastern state ‘insurgency-troubled’. Later, however, the actress apologized but the Sikkim government requires another apology from Priyanka, this time they want it in “clear-cut terms”.

On Thursday, the internet trolled and attacked Priyanka for the reference she made on the north eastern state stating that it is a quiet place. The online attackers referred to Priyanka as “politically illiterate” post the interview on the sidelines of the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). The star was discussing the movie she made that is titled ‘Pahuna: The Little Visitors’. Priyanka’s Sikkimese production premiered at the film festival event.

Sikkim Tourism Reacts:

Zangpo Bhutia, the Sikkim Tourism Secretary said, “We have received an apology note from Priyanka Chopra for her comments, where she has written ‘I tender an apology’. But we are not satisfied. We have asked her to send us another letter in more clear-cut terms.” When asked about the Sikkim Government’s take on the Bollywood actress’s talk, he said: “Whatever she said is totally unacceptable. This has tarnished the image of our state. So we asked her to take back her statement and apologize to us. But as we are not satisfied with her first letter. We are waiting for a fresh note from her.”

A famous face on TV Show Quantico, Priyanka manages her time between the two countries, India and the USA still has to give an official statement. The movie titled ‘Pahuna: The Little Visitors’ revolves around three Nepalese kids who got separated from their parents. They flee to Sikkim after escaping the Maoists in Nepal. Priyanka’s Controversial Remark

“This is a Sikkimese film. Sikkim is a small state in the northeast of India which never had a film industry or anyone who made films from there. And this is the first film ever that’s come out of that region because it’s very troubled with insurgency and troubling situations.” This remark made by the Bollywood actress was widely slammed online. People also said Sikkim movies were made earlier too while she remarked ‘‘first film ever that’s come out of that region’’…..

Debutant director Paakhi A. Tyrewala is directing ‘Pahuna: The Little Visitors.’ The movie was launched as an association between Ministry of Tourism Sikkim and Purple Pebble Pictures.
