A former Miss America from Seymour recently visited Brown County State Park for her new “Katie’s Home-State Adventures” video series for the Indiana Office of Tourism Development.

Katie Stam Irk, along with husband Brian Kirk and their children (Charlotte, Rosie and Wrigley), has been checking out getaway ideas across Indiana and filming video blogs of their adventures.

Miss America 2009 and her family visited Indiana’s largest state park, just south of Nashville, where they took in a sampling of the park’s 70 miles of horse bridle paths, 20 miles of hiking trails and two nature lookouts. They also stopped inside the Brown County State Park Nature Center, documented in a three-minute video.

To see it, go to youtube.com and type in “Katie’s Home State Adventures” in the search tool.

Besides Brown County, her fall adventures include the Bloomington Farmers’ Market, Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Fishers, Huber’s Winery, Orchard, & Vineyards in Borden and the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival.

“Katie is a born-and-raised Hoosier and her passion for Indiana comes to life in the video blogs,” said Mark Newman, executive director of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development. “Not only is she polished on camera from her pageant career, but being a mom and growing up on a dairy farm in Seymour makes her the perfect agri-tourism expert. We’re so pleased that Katie has joined the Visit Indiana team.”
