The 97th Miss America Pageant is set to take place on Sunday, September 10th.
On Wednesday, August 30th, the 51 contestants introduced themselves to an eager crowd, listing their educational background, and the personal platform for which they have chosen to advocate for.
Among the program's speakers was Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian, who had some words of welcome from the birthplace of the Miss America competition.
Miss America 2018 Contestants arrive in Atlantic City "It is indeed my pleasure to be welcoming the most talented women in New Jersey to pageant week," said Guardian. "Whether you’re here for the opening, for the clam bake tonight, for the Show Us Your Shoes parade, for the preliminaries, or for the pageant — I know you’re going to have a great time."
The traditional Miss America Show Us Your Shoes parade is slated for a 5 p.m. start on the Atlantic City Boardwalk on Saturday, September 9th.
