TAMPA, Florida – A new Miss World franchise holder for the Philippines has been formally introduced, in the person of Arnold Vegafria, as he announced that this year’s Miss World Philippines 2017 will be bigger and better during the media launch held on July 7 at New World Hotel Makati City, Philippines.

Last January 2017, Arnold Vegafria took over the franchise after TV host Cory Quirino let go of it. “It has been a great privilege to be given the exclusive franchise holder and national director of Miss World Philippines and Mr. World Philippines pageant by Julia Morley, Founder and Chairperson of the Miss World Organization. I can assure you that the Miss World Philippines 2017 will be bigger and better. It will be something that will redeem the sense of pride of patriotism as a nation”, Vegafria said.

Aside from the main title Miss World Philippines, three other crowns are at stake. These are Miss Eco Philippines, Reina Hispano Americana Filipinas and Miss Multinational Philippines. Miss Eco International promotes the importance of the protection and conservation of the environment, in addition to marketing tourism. The pageant is now on its 4th year. The pageant will be held in Alexandria, Egypt on April 2018. Meanwhile, Reina Hispanoamericana is a pageant open to beauty queens from countries with ties to Spain. Whoever wins the title in the Philippines will have the honor of being the first Filipina to join this pageant. The coronation night will held in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on November 2017. Miss Multinational, meanwhile, is a homegrown title. First staged in Davao, the pageant has gone global and will be staged in New Delhi, India.

Adding significant to the event was the presence of the recent Miss World Philippines luminaries: Gwendolyn Ruais (MW first Princess and MWP 2011), Queenierich Rehman (Semifinalist and MWP 2012), Hillarie Parungao (Semifinalist and MWP 2015), Catriona Gray (MW 3rd runner-up and MWP 2015) and the beautiful Megan Young, Miss World 2013.

“With your help, I’m confident that we can find another Filipina beauty who can excel and surpass Megan Young’s historic peat as we continue the country’s winning streak in the global pageant arena. Beyond all the beauty and glamour, we will continue to wage our crusade for peace, goodwill and understanding. And it will better to contribute our rightful share in fulfilling MWO noble advocacy, Beauty with a Purpose”, Vegafria added.
The Miss World Philippines Organization has chosen the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center as its beneficiary, with particular focus on the care and rehabilitation of its indigent pediatric patients.

With regard to the crown, the organization will also unveil a new crown designed by Megan Young with collaboration by a renowned Filipino jeweler.

There will be fast-track challenges including Brand Fashion Show (determines the Top Model Winner), Sports Challenge (determines the Sports Challenge winner), Beach Wear Challenge (determine beach wear winner) and Multimedia Challenge.
The Miss World Philippines 2017 pageant is scheduled on September 3, 2017 at the SM MOA Arena. Deadline for application is on July 22, 2017. Interested applicants may submit their documents together with their photos in person at the Miss World Philippines Secretariat (Suite 507, Taipan Place, F.
