Belize prepares for Costa Maya Festival 2017

By BBN Staff: The international Costa Maya Festival 2017 kicks off next weekend in San Pedro Town.

From August 3 to August 6, islanders, visitors, tourists and delegates will celebrate the annual Costa Maya Festival with cultural presentations and the annual pageant.

The Costa Maya Festival is the only event of its kind in Central America.

The island sees visitors from all over Belize and the world during the celebration and comes alive with music, presentations, famous visitors and musicians.

On Thursday, August 3, 2017, is the night for the Miss Costa Maya International Pageant with entertainment by Ballet Folklorico de Quintana Roo and after party with the Caribbean Kings Band. Residents are invited to cheer for their favorite contestant of El Mundo Maya as they compete for the title of Miss Costa Maya 2017.

Participants from Mexico, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Nicaragua are already in San Pedro Town.

The event will take place at the Louis Sylvester Sporting Complex in San Pedro.

On Friday night, an opening gala is held in conjunction with Caribbean night. Presentations include cultural displays by Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama and Mexico.

International artists include reggaetón artist from Panama Felix Lt, Grupo Yerbaklan from Honduras, the Soca Queen of the Carribean ,Allison Hinds alongside Belize’s General Supa G.

Saturday night is the grand international night featuring Grupo Crash, Alegria y Tradiciones – Danza de Panama, Stig da Artist, World Culture Band, and La Sonora Dinamita de Lucho Argain.

On Sunday, the party continues with “ Fiesta en la Playa” beach parties all over town including carnival rides, children shows and food courts.
