CITY OF KATY (Covering Katy) – When Miss Texas USA, Logan Lester of Houston, takes the stage at the 2018 Miss USA Pageant later this year in Las Vegas, Cane Island’s resident fitness trainer Arnold Vasquez will certainly be cheering her on.

In addition to serving as a resident fitness trainer for the Katy master-planned community of new homes, Arnold trains Logan in his Galleria fitness studio and several other Miss USA pageant contestants from across the country via Skype.

“Arnold is very positive – that’s the key,” says Logan, a graduate of Texas A&M University and a Realtor with Team Sansone of Re/MAX Fine Properties. “I always know our sessions are going to be a great experience.”

While Arnold works with pageant contestants to achieve a look he describes as “long and lean,” his training sessions with Cane Island residents in the community’s Amenity Village fitness center focus more on improving body composition.

“It’s not about building muscle mass,” he says. “My workouts are more about helping women and men of all ages tone and lose inches.”

Not surprisingly, when it comes to exercise, Arnold is one of the community early birds. He reports to Cane Island’s two-story fitness center at 5:15 in the morning. He also is available for after-work and at-home training sessions.

One of Cane Island’s first residents, he moved to the Katy community with his wife Stephanie and their three children after passing through the area while driving from their former home in the Galleria to their country home west of Katy.

“When we drive down Cane Island Parkway and come into the community, it just feels like we’re in a different place,” he says. “Having a fully equipped fitness center with cardio, free weights and all the equipment for any age is a big plus too.”

As for training Logan, the reigning Miss Texas USA works out with Arnold up to three times a week.

“I’m so proud of the work she’s put in,” he says. “I’ll definitely be cheering her on at Miss USA.”

Cane Island’s fitness center, part of the community’s award-winning Amenity Village, is located at 2100 Cane Island Parkway.

To reach Cane Island, the 2016 Greater Houston Builders Association Community of the Year, take the Cane Island Parkway exit off Interstate 10 minutes west of the Grand Parkway. Head north on the newly extended parkway for one half mile directly into the community.

The community features traditional homes and lifestyle patio homes from the mid 200’s by CalAtlantic Homes, Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, Perry Homes, Shea Homes, Taylor Morrison, Toll Brothers and Trendmaker Homes.
