BISMARCK—Cara Mund, the first Miss North Dakota to be crowned Miss America, can add another rare distinction to her credit: her own day.
Gov. Doug Burgum declared Saturday, Nov. 4, as Cara Mund Day after she was crowned Miss America in September.
Mund, a 2012 graduate of Bismarck Century High School, is visiting the Peace Garden State this week, including events Friday in Williston and Saturday in Bismarck.
In Williston, she is visiting a classroom and attending the Miss North Dakota pageant. A homecoming celebration is planned Saturday afternoon at the Bismarck Event Center.
"Cara Mund has represented her home state in an exceptional manner," Burgum said in a statement.. "Her hard work and perseverance, dedication to public service and commitment to improving the lives of others is a source of immense pride for people across North Dakota."
