Chickasaw and Miss Oklahoma Triana Browne competing this month for Miss America title

Miss Oklahoma Triana Browne will represent her home state and the Chickasaw Nation this month on the national stage as she competes in the iconic Miss America Pageant.

The 24-year-old Chickasaw citizen will be a part of the 2018 Miss America Pageant, Sept. 6-10 in Atlantic City, N.J. Daily voting for “America’s Choice” is currently under way at missamerica.org/vote.

The new Miss America will be crowned during a live ABC telecast Sunday, Sept. 10. The telecast begins at 8 p.m. CDT.

The Chickasaw Nation will host an official Miss America Watch Party at the McSwain Theatre, 130 W. Main, Ada, Okla., to cheer and support Miss Browne. Activities for all ages begin at 6 p.m., and a brief program is planned at 7 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to watch the Miss America Pageant on the large McSwain screen at 8 p.m.

The official Chickasaw Nation Miss America Watch Party is open to the public at no charge.

Representing Her Culture

Through her platform as Miss Oklahoma, “Bridging the Great Cultural Divide” Miss Browne shares Chickasaw culture and heritage with Oklahoma’s youth.

Gov. Bill Anoatubby congratulated Miss Browne on her accomplishments.

“Miss Browne represents the Chickasaw Nation and Oklahoma with grace, poise and diplomacy,” he said. “We wish her well in the upcoming pageant and thank her for serving as a positive role model for all Chickasaws.”

Miss Browne’s Chickasaw heritage traces to her grandparents, Charles and Judith Hearell, who live in Bennington, Oklahoma. Her parents are Monica Browne and Joel Hearell.

She previously served as Miss Oklahoma City and Miss Oklahoma State University.
