Recently, our very own Laura Lehmann let the cat out of the bag and revealed that she'll be taking part in the 2017 Miss World Philippines pageant, announcing on Twitter that she'll be contestant number 15.
This won't be Lau's first foray into the world of beauty pageants, and she won't be the first UAAP courtside reporter to do so either.
Why don't we take a trip back down memory lane and revisit some of the former sideline sweethearts that have owned the beauty pageant stage before!
Laura Lehmann
Before patrolling the sidelines for Ateneo de Manila during UAAP Season 77 and Season 78, as we mentioned earlier, Laura Lehmann was the first runner up in the 2014 Binibining Pilipinas contest.
Fun fact: Also in the Top 15 of that contest along with Lau? 2015 Miss Universe herself, Pia Wurtzbach.
With her UAAP Courtside career done, Lau is still very much visible on TV. She can be seen on Upfront at the UAAP and on PVL broadcasts on S+A, while also hosting her own travel show on The Lifestyle Channel.
Tina Marasigan
Like Lau, Tina Marasigan walked the Binibining Pilipinas stage before she faced the UAAP cameras.
Tina was contestant number eight in the 2011 Binibining Pilipinas contest, eventually finishing in the top-15. That same year, Tina, was named as the courtside reporter for the UST Growling Tigers. Now, the Psychology graduate graces TV screens as a reporter for ABS-CBN News.
With regards to pageant participation, former FEU courtside reporter Ganiel Krishnan could be the most experienced.
Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 winner, Miss Manila 2016 2nd Runner-up, and Miss Asia Pacific International 2016 runner-up, all while serving up sideline stories for the Morayta-based squads in the UAAP. Now, Gan can still be seen doing courtside duties for the Premier Volleyball League on S+A.
Before becoming a dentist, Alexis Go was the courtside reporter for University of The East back in UAAP Season 70. The self-professed "pageant enthusiast" is also the Director of Miss Chinatown Philippines, a pageant that she won back in 2006.
Diane Querrer
The last lady on our list is Diane Querrer who served on the sidelines for the UST Growling Tigers from UAAP Season 70-Season 71. Years after her courtside career, Diane joined the Miss Philippines Earth 2014 pageant, representing Tanauan City, Batangas. She finished as Miss Philippines Earth-Air. Today, Diane works as a news reporter and anchor for a local television channel.
