AND the winner is Miss Indonesia!
Defeating 30 contestants, Sheryltha Pratyscha, 23, from Indonesia was crowned Miss Cosmopolitan World 2017 at Marriot Putrajaya Hotel. The beauty queen and model by profession from East Java took home RM20,000 worth of Ceres jewellery, a crown and trophy.
“This is my first time in Malaysia and I really did not expect to win. It is so amazing.
“I really just wanted to do my best and I hope this win will inspire others, especially young girls, to pursue their dreams.
“I will definitely come back to Malaysia soon because I really love Penang and eating seafood there,” she said.
Sheryltha also won two subsidiary awards namely Best National Costume Award and Miss Gintell.
The first runner-up was Myat Noe Chit from Myanmar and second runner-up was Semoy De Four from Trinidad & Tobago.
Pageant founder Amelia Liew said the winner did not come as a surprise to her and the panel of judges.
“All of the top five contestants were very deserving and just as what we predicted.
“Sheryltha really stood out with her performance during the 18-day training.
“She put her heart into all the sponsor’s activities and has good manners and is very punctual too,” she said.
Pageant participants visited various locations in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuala Selangor and Sekinchan during their 18 days stint.
Commending Malaysian participant Chanelle Jasmine Wong’s Top 5 win in the international pageant, Liew said she hopes to create more avenues for Malaysian women to shine in the beauty pageant.
“Next year, I want to organise the first Miss Cosmopolitan Malaysia.
“With that pageant, I am hoping to provide more opportunities for Malaysian women and train them to become beauty queens,” she said.
Other notable winners were Stephanie Ellen Almeida from the United States who bagged the Miss Body Confidence title, Raminta Leonaite from Lithuania (Most Photogenic) and Ryu Ana from South Korea (Miss Congeniality).
