Int’l tilt holds finals in Pasig tonight

THE Miss Tourism Universe is holding its grand finale tonight at Tanghalang Pasigueño in Pasig with beauty delegates from 12 countries competing for the title.

The pageant quietly kicked off with a press conference at I’M Hotel in Makati last Monday, followed by the evening gown competition at the said hotel’s grand ballroom that same night.

Last Tuesday, the delegates competed in national costumes with Miss Lebanon Mariam Saade winning the Miss Lady Grace award while Miss Philippines Julie Ann Tricia Estabillo Manalo was named as Miss Zen Zest Choice.

The pageant, originally scheduled to be held in Beirut, Lebanon, was moved to Manila by its organizer Style Events Management in coordination with Amelia Sunio-Abarquez, the Philippine licensee to the pageant.

“Due to security and travel issues, we have decided to hold the pageant in the Philippines,” said Sabine Nahas, vice president of Style Events Management. “It is also an opportunity to promote the tourism of the Philippines as well as experience the famed Filipino pageant audience that is known worldwide for their unparalleled enthusiasm.”

“We welcome the delegates from around the world and we hope you will enjoy our great tourist spots as well as our hospitality,” said Abarquez who also stages the annual Miss Tourism Philippines search.

The delegates are: Ayisha Bugri of Ghana, Nishita Purandare of India, Mariam Saade of Lebanon, Nisha Tayananthan of Malaysia, Thaint Nadi Soe of Myanmar, Janaki Shrestha of Nepal, Julie Ann Tricia Estabillo Manalo of the Philippines, Tessy Ramos of Portugal, Teodora Saramet of Romania, Angelina Finadeva of Russia, Chintita Vitailak of Thailand and Mai Thi Hong Dung of Vietnam.
