VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) - Young Lao ladies shouldn’t miss the opportunity of participating in Miss Laos 2017, which promises to be as exciting as in previous years.
A news conference to publicise the Miss Laos 2017 event and to announce the Lao representative for Miss Supranational Lao 2017 was held at the Don Chan Palace hotel in Vientiane on Monday.
President of the Miss Laos Company, Ms Outhonethip Souvannavong, called on young women across the nation to apply for the contest as part of efforts to promote Lao culture.
She said the aim of Miss Laos 2017 is to create important activities for women and to provide a chance for young women to raise awareness of the beautiful traditions and culture of Laos when they visit other countries.
Auditions for Miss Laos 2017 will be held in Vientiane from October 1-20 and in the southern provinces of Savannakhet and Champassak from October 8-12. Auditions for the northern provinces will be held in Luang Prabang from October 15-18.
The event organisers are calling for single women with a good background and aged 18 to 25 years to apply for the pageant. They should be at least 156 cm tall, have completed at least Year Six of secondary school and have a good command of the Lao and English languages.
It was also announced that Kithsada Vongsaysavath, who was the second runner-up of Miss Grand Laos 2017, has been selected as Miss Supranational Lao 2017 after she bagged the Miss Photogenic title at the 13th Miss China Asean Etiquette Pageant held from August 27-September 13.
Miss Kithsada will represent Laos at the Miss Supranational 2017 event to be held in Poland and the Czech Republic from November 16 to December 3.
Miss Supranational 2017 is one of the world’s five major beauty pageants, along with Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth and Miss International. Miss Supranational was established in Poland in 2009.
Here’s hoping that Miss Kithsada will achieve even greater success at the Miss Supranational 2017 to make the people of Laos proud.
