Medina defends fellow beauty queen Winwyn Marquez

2016 Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina defended her fellow beauty queen 2017 Miss Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas Winwyn Marquez who is being criticized by both local and foreign netizens.

During a press conference for her up-coming film Spirit of the Glass 2: The Haunted, Maxine said that she will always support a Filipina in any pageant and advised the public to be proud that Winwyn will be joining the 2017 Miss Hispanoamericana.

Maxine further added that many Filipinas are more beautiful, smarter, and more skilled compared to girls from other countries. She also insisted that the beauty and skill of Filipinas are unique and is appreciated by the whole world.

Maxine also advised Winwyn to be herself during the pageant in Bolivia this November.

Winwyn, the first-ever Filipina to join the 2017 Miss Hispanoamericana, is being bashed by Filipino netizens since the pageant is quite unknown in the Philippines.

While netizens in Latin countries are questioning the participation of the Philippines in the said pageant since the country is not part of Latin-America and majority of Filipinos do not speak the Spanish language.
