Miss Cayman prepares for world stage

(CNS Local Life): Miss Cayman Islands Anika Conolly is gearing up for the annual Miss Universe pageant, set for 26 November 2017, with ongoing training in wardrobe, fitness and public speaking while maintaining her public-appearance schedule. “Being Miss Cayman Islands 2017 has been the journey of a lifetime for me,” said Conolly.

“I have enjoyed the role immensely so far and look forward to representing my country on the international level in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant. Training for Miss Universe has started and I hope to receive everyone’s support and encouragement as I prepare to represent my country and carry on the legacy of our CaymanKind,” she added in a press release.

Since taking the crown on 25 March, Conolly has been heavily involved in community events and has contributed to Cayman’s culture in many ways, stated the release. From Southwest Airlines’ inaugural launch to the CayFilm awards night, she has been keeping busy with local appearances. Conolly also volunteers with the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, and is a youth leader and mentor to young people. In addition, she spoke at the annual Cayman Islands Society for Human Resources Professionals conference held in May.

Miss Cayman Islands committee chairperson, Derri Dacres-Lee, said, “We are very excited to have Anika represent us at the Miss Universe pageant this year. The committee is in the process of preparing Anika for the world stage; we know she will make us proud.”

While set for November this year, the location for the Miss Universe pageant has not yet been confirmed.
