Miss Diva 2017 Winner is Shraddha Shashidhar, to Represent India at Miss Universe: See Pictures of Newly-Crowned Beauty Queen

The 5th edition of Miss Diva recently concluded with Shraddha Shashidhar declared as the winner of Miss Diva Universe 2017 title. The glittering finale of the Miss India Universe 2017 took place on October 11 at the Hotel Sahara Star in Mumbai. Shraddha will vie for Miss Universe title and repeat the success that was last achieved by Lara Dutta 17 years ago in 2000. The 20-year-old Mumbai girl defeated Peden Ongmu Namgyal and Apeksha Porwal who came second and third respectively. They will be representing India at Miss Supranational 2017 and Miss Intercontinental 2017. The pictures and videos from the gala night depict the momentous success story of the young winners. Shraddha Shashidhar became an overnight sensation after she bagged the coveted title of Miss Diva or Miss India Universe on Wednesday. Bollywood superstar actor Shahid Kapoor crowned her with the biggest title of the night. Reigning Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere and Miss Diva 2016 Roshmitha Harimurthy were also on the podium. She now has the responsibility to bring the Miss Universe crown home after 17 years long years since Lara Dutta won in 2000. Former beauty queen and Bollywood actress, Lara has been closely associated with Miss Diva 2017. Apart from mentoring the contestants, Lara was also one of the respected judges at the event.
Lara Dutta was quoted speaking about the annual contest of Miss Diva “Competition is tough every year. It isn’t easy to choose one winner. Because if beauty pageants were easy then there would have been so many beauty queens, and we would have had so many more titles. It’s been 17 years since we have had our past winner so this year we have to try and bag the Miss Universe Crown.”
The prestigious beauty pageant Miss Diva was conducted as a six-episode television reality series. It started off with a competition among 15 contestants. They were given several challenges upon which scores were earned. At the end of the fifth episode, three contestants with lowest scores were eliminated while the remaining 12 contestants advanced to the finale telecasted as the sixth episode.
The fifteen participants of Miss Diva 2017 were – Apeksha Porwal from Mumbai, Ekta Jaggi from New Delhi, Elisha Mayor from Jalandhar, Menka Rai from District Seoni, Monika Chaudhary from Gurgaon, Peden Ongmu Namgyal from Gangtok, Shannon Gonsalves from Mumbai, Shelly Kataria from Delhi, Shraddha Shashidhar from Mumbai, Sonali Singh from Lucknow, Spatika Surapaneni from Hyderabad, Swetha Gadad from Bangalore, Tejaswini Manogna from Hyderabad, Trisha Sood from Delhi and Vijaya Sharma from Delhi.
Shraddha Shashidhar who is into sports, adventure and music came across as the best pick by the eminent judges. Apart from Miss Universes, Lara and Iris Mittenaere, other stars present at the event were actor Rajkummar Rao, director Kabir Khan, boxer Vijendra Singh, former beauty queen Lopamudra Raut, Hollywood filmmaker Chuck Russell. Miss Diva 2017 was hosted by TV and film personality Malaika Arora and VJ-actor Yudhishtir Urs. Singer Anushka Manchanda and actress Kriti Sanon gave energetic performances.
Amongst the few interesting things to know about Shraddha Shashidhar is that her favourite actor is Deepika Padukone. She has attended Army Public School in Deolali and Sophia College for Women in Mumbai. Her favourite quote is “What you think, is what you become” and is a complete believer of it. She feels confidence, intellect and poise are three must-have qualities every woman must have. Apart from being a glamorous and confident person, Sharaddha is also a humanitarian. She had taught Tibetan refugees at the Lha charitable trust. Go, Girl!
