Miss Ghana 2015 second runner-up, Rebecca Asamoah, has reacted to allegations that Miss Ghana pageant, the biggest pageant in the country, is an “escort agency that pimps winners to men”.

According to her, she was never pimped to any man while she worked under the Miss Ghana brand.

She also revealed that she has not witnessed any other queen being pimped to a man or men as other queens suggested in earlier reports.

Rebecca added that whatever sponsorship deals she got for Miss Ghana during stay with the Miss Ghana Organisation were by dint of hard work and not through sexual gains.

“Honestly I was not pimped to anybody. I just did my part to support the queen… I have not had that experience with Inna Patty. I don’t think I can come online and say something that has not happened to me. I always stand for the truth and they know that about it. So far as Miss Ghana Organisation has never done that to me, I can’t come out and say Inna Patty pimped me to anybody,” Rebecca Asamoah told Hitz FM on Wednesday afternoon on the You Say Wetin programme hosted by Prince Tsegah.

Late last week, three of Miss Ghana beauty queens, including Stephanie Karikari (Miss Ghana 2010), Antoinette Delali Kemavor (Miss Ghana 2015) and Giuseppina Nana Akua Baafi (Miss Ghana 2013), made wild allegations about the Miss Ghana Organisation, directing their arsenals at CEO Inna Patty.

They alleged Inna Patty tried pimping them to raise money to support the pageant, but they didn’t allow it to happen.

In her pronouncements in an audio which was circulated on various media platforms, Anoinette Delali Kemavor drew suggestions that Rebecca Asamoah and Afua Asieduwaa, who were her runner-ups, may have been pimped by Inna Patty.

“I think my time the pimping was not that great. It was on the low. She didn’t like me anyway. She likes my runner-ups better. She always used to compare me to them and one day I got angry I asked her why is it that you crowned me when you like Rebecca because she always say Rebecca is getting deals and Afua too is getting deals and I’m not getting deals. I have no idea how they get their deals, I can only imagine,” Antoinette said in a Ghanacelebrities.com audio while she laughed.

But Rebecca denied the allegation. She expressed her shock that Antoinette could make such allegations about her. According to her, for the first five months as a Miss Ghana runner-up, it was Delali who drove her to places to seek for sponsorship because she didn’t know how to drive at the time.

Delali was a witness to how they looked for sponsors for their project; she is hence surprised she went to media to create different impressions about her.

“Honestly I am shocked. It is a surprise and blow to me because for almost six I picked taxi to the office where I meet Delali for us to go look for sponsorships. She walks with me into the offices of the places that I go and ask for sponsorships. We show our proposals and talk about it. I am even surprised she will sit back and say “I can only imagine,” Rebecca Asamoah hinted.

She added, “I want to make it clear out there that when you listen to such news, don’t jump to conclusion. Some of us we know where we are coming from. We know the hard work and the grace of God that pushed us where we are.”

Beyond Miss Ghana, Rebecca contested for Miss Africa Continent and won, as well as winning at the Miss United Nations held in Jamaica earlier this year by dint of hard work.

Unlike others who joined Miss Ghana for fun, she disclosed that she saw Miss Ghana as a “platform that grants young ladies opportunity to build themselves to become whatever they want to be in the future.”

She pointed out that she seized the opportunity and worked harder. She is, therefore, surprised that her success is being tagged sex gains.
