6 December, 2017. The opening day of the 31st Miss Pacific Islands Pageant has drawn the community in Nadi and from around Fiji and the participating Pacific Island countries to support their beauty queens.


The public came out in numbers this afternoon, as the nine beautiful contestants from American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Rapa Nui, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tonga marched through Nadi town ahead of the official opening ceremony of the four-night pageant.


The official opening ceremony will be held tonight at Prince Charles Park, Nadi town with formalities and keynote address to be delivered by a representative of the Fijian Government.


The first judged night of the Pageant will showcase the first category of the swim wear or sarong, with other categories to follow in the remaining nights of the week with the crowning on Saturday night, 9th December 2017.


As the hosts of this year’s Pagent, the Fijian Government is the major sponsor, supported by Vodafone Fiji Limited, Nadi Town Council, Miss Fiji Pageant Association, Go Advertising, Pure Fiji, Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, Garden of the Sleeping Giant, Official Sports Activity Wear partner – Qaqa, Opening Night Gown Designer – Mausio Designs.


The Pageant at Prince Charles Park is free of charge and will be broadcasted live by the official broadcast partner for this year, Fiji TV, and further broadcasted live within other Pacific Island countries.

The contestants have already picked their order of appearance and respective topics for pre-Pageant interviews namely, Gender Equality, Education, Tourism, Politics, Culture, Climate Change Action to sustain our Islands, Technology, Environment and Health.


The Presentation of the topics will be judged on Thursday morning, followed by the remaining categories of talent, traditionally inspired attire, and stage interview on the remaining nights. Internet Voting via Facebook continues and will close on Friday midnight.
