Prizes galore for contestants

All 14 young, beautiful ladies who took part in the Miss Seychelles … Another World 2017 beauty pageant held recently at the Avani Barbarons Resort & Spa, received their prizes in a gathering at the Sea Front restaurant on Friday evening.
The prizes ranged from night stays and dinners in hotels, scuba diving, gym vouchers, return tickets, spa and facial massages, to free data and gold necklaces just to name a few. The girls who did not win any specific prize on pageant day were also rewarded with a prize.
Youth Sports and Culture Minister Mitcy Larue graced the evening with her presence and she was in the company of members of management and staff of Cinea (Creative Industry and National Events Agency) as well as representatives of sponsors.
Miss Seychelles … Another World 2017 Hilary Joubert was the star of the night as she was awarded so many prestigious prizes from sponsors. She won a R10,000 monthly allowance sponsored by STC (Seychelles Trading Company), a yellow golden necklace by Jouel, one return ticket in economy class on any international flight by Air Seychelles, two return tickets for her and her chaperone to attend the Miss World beauty pageant by Ethiopian airlines, one return ticket to either Nairobi, Dar es Salaam or Johannesburg by Kenya Airways, PADI water diver courses by Big Blue Divers, weekend for two on La Digue by Tour Bookers, two nights’ stay for two on half board by Raffles Praslin Seychelles, two nights’ stay on half board by Avani Barbarons Resort & Spa, one night’s stay on half board by Kempinski Seychelles Resort, one night’s stay for two in junior suite on half board by Ephelia Resorts, dinner by H Resort Beau Vallon, dinner for two by Four Seasons Resort, dinner for two at Savoy Resort & Spa, full day pampering by Savoy Resort and Spa, body scrub and full body massage by Peppermint Spa, gym membership by XTrim Gym, one year membership with personal trainer by Tropical Heat Gym, gift vouchers, a bottle of champagne by Creole Wines and a year of free French course by Alliance Française.
“I am thrilled. But I think of my family first and my boyfriend. I do not know which gift I will use first as there are so many,” said Miss Seychelles … Another World Hilary Joubert while expressing herself to the press.
She said she has started working on her project by visiting schools and is now working on finding a location and innovation.
She added: “I am looking forward to going to China for the Miss World pageant”.
Hilary will be in China for a month and she leaves Seychelles on October 19.
In her vote of thanks, one of the contestants, First Princess Petra Tamatave, said the journey has been full of challenges but very rewarding, fruitful and exciting. She thanked all those who have made it happen.
Expressing his appreciation to the various sponsors, Cinea chief executive Galen Bresson told them the event would not have been possible without their support and that the agency would not have achieved what it has achieved.
“It is not easy with resources given,” he said, adding it is not easy for any girl to participate due to criticisms. But he called on all the girls out there to start preparing for next year’s pageant as it will be held much earlier.
“Miss Seychelles … Another World Hilary Joubert’s journey has not ended yet. She is going through the next training to take part in the Miss World pageant. We have to introduce her to trainers, groomers and we have to bring along all the things she has done, including her project, during her time with the Miss Seychelles pageant preparation,” said Mr Bresson.
He added that it is a tough job for Cinea because as Hilary is in the preparation process, there is the Festival Kreol setting in,” said Mr Bresson.
He explained that Cinea intends to visit schools so as to get girls to prepare early for the Miss Seychelles beauty pageant as there are many opportunities that come along with such a pageant.
