From Bintumani Hotel in Freetown, Sierra Leone finally got a victorious beauty who will represent Salone in the 2019 Miss World Pageant in the UK.

She is pretty Enid Jones Boston, who hailed from the Western Area. Enid won the fiercely contested elimination series over the weekend among other beautiful girls. She is from the Krio ethnic tribe and she speaks very well. Even the pageant judges realised that she has some fascinating qualities that would make Sierra Leone proud. Enid is a prolific reader, reports say. (Photo: Salone beauty Enid ready to storm the UK in December).

Miss Sierra Leone 2019 winner Enid is now gearing up big time for the 69th edition of the Miss World Pageant scheduled for December 14 in London, United Kingdom. Enid was born in 1995 in Freetown and has since been a joy to her humble family. At an early age, her beauty and intelligence and sweet personality touched many admirers in Sierra Leone. However, Enid never thought of going into beauty contest or fashion.

Notwithstanding, at the Annie Walsh School Beauty pageant, Enid saw her opportunity to try her chance. And as expected, she came first at the Miss Annie Walsh Pageant and in 2014 Enid came first runners up. "I knew I was beautiful, confident and brilliant. I have had a lot of compliment over the years and I wanted to give pageantry a try," Enid later said.

At State House on Wednesday, September 18, the contestants for this year’s Miss Sierra Leone Beauty Pageantry paid a courtesy call on President Julius Maada Bio ahead of the commencement of the grilling contest to find the final representative for the country.

Reports say, the First Lady Mrs Fatima Bio, who presented the contestants, thanked the President for hosting the team, saying that it was an honour to be around them. She said they were meeting the President to officially inform him about the contest because the New Direction government believes in youth empowerment.

Fatima Bio disclosed that the winner of the contest would have the opportunity to represent Sierra Leone at the 69th edition of the Miss World pageant, slated for December 14 in London, United Kingdom.

The First Lady also impressed on the young ladies that it would be a big achievement for the winner who would eventually represent the country abroad and called on the contestants to put on their best performances because they will be representing the hopes of their respective districts.

In his response, President Bio thanked the stakeholders who had been working and providing support to the contestants and noted that he is proud of the quality of products being produced lately. He added that he is particularly proud that the country is now grooming young ladies who are bold and ready to represent the country internationally.

He stated that the ladies are ambassadors of their respective districts and encouraged them to be role models, by always putting on their best. He also said that it is the responsibility of government to help its citizens actualise their fullest potentials. He added that that is why his government is providing quality education to every Sierra Leonean because education is the best tool for both personal and national development.

"The beauty in you shines better when you have an education. We are giving everyone the required tools to be able to succeed because the future of this nation depends on the quality of people we produce. So, I encourage you all to make use of the free quality education we are providing because there is no shortcut to success. I also call on you to maintain moral values because as parents it is our responsibility to guide you," the President said.

Miss Kono, Christiana Sia Johnson, who delivered the vote of thanks, said that it is a privilege to meet the President and commended him for offering them words of wisdom. She also expressed their appreciation to the First Lady for organising the visit.
