GEORGIE Mitchell has the looks and the brains – a rare combination.
The Woollahra-based model finished runner-up in the recent Miss Universe Australia pageant and is now focusing on starting her PhD on artificial intelligence.

“I’ve got a thirst for knowledge,” she said.
“I’ve always really enjoyed studying but I’ve also really enjoyed the fashion industry, so modelling as well.”
Ms Mitchell finished runner up at last month’s beauty pageant – her second attempt for the title – behind Olivia Rogers who hails from Adelaide.
The full-time model said she had entered the competition to make friends and meet like-minded people after moving to Sydney.
“I wanted to challenge myself,” she said.
“It actually took a lot of courage I felt to re-enter and then I’m so happy I did because I’m really thrilled with the result.”

Ms Mitchell is also one of the youngest students to complete her MBA at Swinburne University where she is hoping to continue her studies.
“I want to make a contribution towards knowledge,” she said.
“It is four years full-time and then you become a Doctor of Philosophy.
“I’ll hopefully be doing it by scholarship, I’ve been discussing that with my university ... that is very competitive.”
Ms Mitchell is now looking for a professor to supervise her studies for the next few years while she continues modelling.
“You have to find a supervisor that will back you and supervise you throughout the entire experience,” she said.
“They not only have to believe in you and your work ethic, but they have to believe in your subject and that it’s credible. You have to find that one person.”
