It’s confirmed: Newly crowned Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere and other winners of the pageant are heading to the Philippines for the Miss Universe 2017 Christmas Tour.

The Miss Universe Organization made the series of confirmation through the pageant’s Facebook account yesterday morning.

“Get excited! The reigning #MissUniverse Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, #MissUniverse 2016 Iris Mittenaere and some of this year’s contestants will be walking in a #MissUniverse Fashion Show sponsored by Front Row Philippines! This will be a night to remember thanks to #FrontRow!” the MUO said on FB.

“It’s happening… The reigning #MissUniverse Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, #MissUniverse 2016 Iris Mittenaere and some of this year’s contestants are heading to the Philippines!

“They’re looking forward to the incredible hospitality of Department of Tourism – Philippines, seeing some of the 7,107 Islands, being a part of DOT’s Women Of Significance Gala Night, and the #MissUniverse Fashion Show.

#ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines,” organizers of the pageant said.

No date has been released for the staging of the holiday tour. But it was earlier reported that the series of activities will begin this week.

Reports said that the winners of Miss Universe batches 2016 and 2017, including the Top 16 semi-finalists, are expected to join the series of events.

This would be the first out-of-the-country trip for Demi-Leigh since she was crowned Miss Universe in Las Vegas last November 26.

The event could also the biggest gathering of Miss Universe winners in the Philippines since the pageant was held here on January 30.

Unconfirmed reports said that the beauties are really coming to Manila to campaign for the staging of the Miss Universe 2018 contest in the Philippines for the fourth time.

“That’s one of the main reasons why they are coming to the Philippines. The officials of the pageant will discuss with the government the staging of the Miss Universe contest in Manila once again,” said the source who refused to be identified.

In July, the MUO offered the Philippine government for staging of the pageant later this year.

But Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo turned down the offer saying that the country was not ready.

Teo said then that it was possible for the Miss Universe contest to be held again in Manila in 2018.

The Miss Universe pageant has been held in the Philippines three times — 1974, 1994, and 2016.
