The 25-year-old SANDF medical doctor and lieutenant congratulated Nel-Peters on her achievement at the crowning ceremony in Sandton yesterday.

Miss SA first princess and Miss World Beauty with Confidence recipient Ade van Heerden has taken over the reins as Miss SA 2017 from newly-crowned Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.

The 25-year-old SA National Defence Force medical doctor and lieutenant congratulated Nel-Peters on her achievement at the crowning ceremony in Sandton yesterday.

“As powerful women we need to celebrate and encourage each other as it is in those moments that we find ourselves as individuals, because one victory for a woman is one to all,” said Van Heerden.

With her new reign limited to six months, Van Heerden said her core mission is to create and promote mental illness awareness among the youth of South Africa.
