INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - A recent North Central High School graduate is representing our state in the Miss Teen USA Pageant.

While Paige Robinson plans to come back to Indiana with a new crown, she says what's most important, is to use her current title as a mentor to young girls and an ambassador for a cause that's close to home.

"First runner-up for the title of Miss Indiana Teen USA 2017 is Mira Gupta," says the announcer at the pageant earlier this year.

It was a crowning moment in the life of this Hoosier teen.

"Miss Indiana Teen USA 2017 is Paige Robinson."

"They called me for the top 10 and asked me how I felt and I was just thinking how blessed I was to be on the stage, in that moment, feeling great, all of my support system was there. It was just an amazing feeling," Robinson said.

Now, she prepares for Phoenix and is praying for another crown as Miss Teen USA. Her face may look familiar as a model for local retailers, with fashion billboards around the city. She's turned her passion for the fashion industry into a mentoring program called "Leneighz Little Ladies."

"I want the other girls I'm mentoring to feel like if you want to be yourself and you don't feel like you want to be on the same track as everyone else, do that and be creative," says Robinson.

She's also a role model for education.

With a 4.1 GPA, the North Central graduate was the commencement speaker this year. She credits her parents for preparing her for this moment.

"I know there are girls out here that don't have that kind of direction. My husband and I make sure we instill those values in our daughters. We have four girls and I think it's great. She's doing great stuff in our community. Indiana has never won a national title so I'm hoping she will put Indiana on the map," said Paige's mother, Coya.

Paige's platform is cancer awareness.

"Use this crown as a megaphone and reach out to many people," Paige said when she was crowned Miss Indiana Teen.

Her grandfather died from lung cancer when she was four years-old on Christmas Day.

"I knew that I could turn my pain into a passion. Flip it around. I'm not the only one hurting with somebody who has battled with cancer," said the queen.

Here's to wishing our Hoosier representative good luck for a repeat win - this time on the national level.

"I just want to let people know that they can keep going, they can keep pushing, and you can always make a better situation of what you have going on," Robinson said.

Miss Teen Indiana has never won the national title.

The preliminary competition begins Friday, July 28. The final competition is Saturday, July 29. You can watch both online at either of these links:
