PH bet Chanel Olive Thomas ends Miss Supranational 2017 journey early

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 2) — Filipina beauty Chanel Olive Thomas was eliminated early at the Miss Supranational 2017 pageant on Saturday.

Thomas, however, landed a spot in the Top 10 of the competition.

Crowned as Miss Supranational was 24-year-old Jenny Kim from South Korea, who succeeded previous titleholder Srinidhi Shetty from India. The pageant's organizers said Kim is the "first ever winner from Korea in any major international pageant."

Thomas, 27, was among the 65 competing candidates in the pageant, held in Krynica-Zdroj, Poland.

Crowned as runners-up were:

1st runner-up: Miss Colombia, Tica Martinez
2nd runner-up: Miss Romania, Bianca Tirsin
3rd runner-up: Miss Ethiopia, Bitaniya Yosef
4th runner up: Miss Puerto Rico, Larissa Santiago
Despite bowing out of the competition early, the statuesque Australian-Filipina dazzled the audience as she paraded in swimwear, national costume and evening gown.

Thomas also bagged the pageant's Miss Friendship award, which she showed off in a Saturday Instragram post.

"Destined to always be Miss Friendship. Thank you girls," she said.

Thomas was also named Miss Friendship in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant in April 2017.

Thomas, who first moved to the Philippines in 2014, is a professional model and host. She has a Certificate III in Business Administration and Certificates III and IV in fitness.

Only one Filipina, Mutya Datul, has won the Miss Supranational title since the pageant started in 2009. She won the title in 2013.

The pageant website states, "experts have rated Miss Supranational as one of the Top 3 most important and prestigious international pageants in the world."

It said its motto is Glamour, Fashion and Natural Beauty.
