PHIWA TSHANGELA WINS AT MISS AFRICA

THE country's flag was flown high when Swazi model Phiwa Tshangela won the Miss Africa Swaziland 2018 at the Africa Pageant held in South Africa.


She also won most courageous award 2017 which was part of the awards on the night. She was also appointed as Africa Pageants Country Director for Swaziland for new entries next year and she can be contacted for more information.


The crowning ceremony was held over the weekend at a glamorous event where three other winners were crowned.


The South African based model snatched the title from nine hopefuls at the prestigious event held at Bufflespoort Resort in the North West on Saturday night.


The host country, venue and dates for the final have not yet been announced. Asked about the good news, the elated model said the win is a source of motivation for her to look for bigger and more meaningful challenges because stating that this confirms that through faith, hard work and determination and abundant self-belief, the sky is the limit.


“Since I am now officially representing my country I will make sure that at all times I represent the country’s national core values which is; being a respectful God fearing citizen who is respectful and culturally grounded and always respects the next persons individual rights.

I would also tell the rest of the world about my unique beauty of my country and the unique governing system based on monarchial democracy” she said.


She dedicated the crown to her family and friends who were dependable pillar of support in times of stiff challenges. “This contest was very challenging because its focus went beyond judging beauty features and height, they were looking for beauty with substance” she added.


Meanwhile the organisers of the event wished her the best during her year long reign.


Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Pageant Carolyn Baldwin-Botha in a statement said the event was a great success.


She congratulated Phiwa for the crown and said they have confidence in her. “We know she will do both Africa and her country Swaziland proud, both on our beautiful continent as well as on international stages, showcasing the splendor of Swaziland and with the lives she will touch and change. Phiwa will also be the Africa Pageants Country Director for Swaziland for new entries next year and she can be contacted for more information” she said.


Other winners were Casey Leigh de Witt (19) from Boksburg, Gauteng, South Africa who was crowned Miss Africa 2017.


Angie Bryant (38) from East London, Eastern Cape and currently residing in Kempton Park, Gauteng crowned Ms Africa 2018.


Lucinda Peterson (32), born and raised in Eldorado Park and currently residing in Alberton, Gauteng, South Africa was crowned Ms Africa 2018. Mrs Africa Classic 2018 was won by El Gosling (57) from Northcliff, Johannesburg, South Africa.
