A FORTNIGHT after Adelaide’s Olivia Rogers secured the prestigious Miss Universe Australia crown, SA’s Aishah Stocker and Sophie Ludbrook are hoping to emulate her success at the Miss World Australia final.
Ms Ludbrook, 18, and Ms Stocker, 27, are the state’s only finalists in the beauty pageant’s national finale, which will be held in Melbourne on Friday.

The photogenic pair said they were both inspired by Rogers’ surprise win in the popular Miss Universe competition on June 29.
“She’s done an incredible job, she’s put SA back on the map you could say in terms of the pageant industry. She promotes compassion and is an incredible person. For me personally, she’s an inspiration,” said Ms Ludbrook, of Mylor.
Ms Stocker, a vehicle surveyor from Athelstone, added: “I was bloody excited when she won. I was like, ‘Yeah, go South Australia!’. Hopefully either Sophie or myself can win so we can do it for SA again.”
Born to a Fijian mother and Austrian father, Ms Stocker did well making it to the national final, after breaking her hip just weeks before the SA event in February, ziplining while on holiday in Vietnam.
“It was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced in my life. I was bedridden for a couple of weeks. It was extremely tough at the final, it was so painful walking in heels,” she said.
Ms Stocker, whose previously studied to be a mechanic and has also completed courses in panel beating and spray painting, said she wanted to compete in Miss World rather than Miss Universe because of its charity focus, in particular for Variety Australia.
“Miss World is a bit more charity orientated - it’s beauty with a purpose. They’re both great pageants but I’m glad I’m in Miss World because we get to do lots of charity events which I love,” she said.
