TV host Laura Lehmann bested 34 other aspirants for the 2017 Miss World Philippines crown at the culmination of the coronation ceremonies staged at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Sunday night.
She received the title from last year’s winner, Catriona Gray, who finished fourth in the global Miss World competition in the United States, and from 2016 Miss World Stephanie del Valle from Puerto Rico.
Lehmann will represent the Philippines in the 67th edition of the international tilt which will take place in China in November.
This year’s national competition, now under the auspices of talent manager Arnold Vegafria, also awarded additional titles.
Actress Teresita Ssen Winwyn Marquez was proclaimed Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas and will represent the Philippines in the the 27th edition of the Reina Hispanoamericana pageant in Bolivia later this year.
Student Sophia Senoron was crowned Miss Multinational Philippines and will compete in the global Miss Multinational contest’s second staging in India later this year.
Cynthia Thomalla, who received the Miss Eco Philippines title, will participate in the fourth Miss Eco International competition in Egypt next year.
Glyssa Perez and Zara Carbonell were proclaimed first and second runners up, respectively.
Miss World Organization president Julia Morley graced the national pageant with her presence, and brought along with her Del Valle’s entourage of runners up and “continental queens.” CBB
