The Washington Post
New Miss America: US needs seat at Paris climate pact table:
“On Monday, after taking the winner’s traditional morning-after dip in the Atlantic City surf, Mund reiterated that the U.S. should be part of the talks on greenhouse gases, which contribute to global warming. “My onstage question answer was just my personal opinion,” she told The Associated Press. “I think everyone has a right to think what they want. But it’s important to have a spot at the negotiating table.”

At Miss America 2018, a refreshing turn from sizzle to substance:
“The evening gowns, the epic smiling, and all those waterfalls of hair onstage in the appealingly venerable venue of Boardwalk Hall were almost intoxicating… this year’s competition may well be remembered for taking its contestants seriously enough to ask them serious questions.”

Miss America 2018 Cara Mund on wanting to run for office and winning the crown:
“Politics played a large part in the competition this year, with several politically-minded questions from judges during the question and answer segment. “We are the largest scholarship provider, so you should be up-to-date on your current events, and you should also have an opinion,” she said. “I don’t think other people are going to share the same opinion nor do I expect them to but the fact that each one of us knew exactly what was going on in the world, we were able to form an opinion and also to back it up.”

The Ivy League grad who just became Miss America says this mentality led to her success:
“Mund believes that by entering the political arena, she can be a champion for change as it relates to reproductive rights and health care. “We need equal perspective. I’d love to see equal representation,” says Mund. “It’s important for women to join this conversation.”

Miss America Cara Mund talks “dreams coming true” and granting wishes
“…Mund will also spend her year working with the Miss America Organization’s official charity partner, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Mund’s personal platform as Miss North Dakota was “Make-A-Wish Passion with Fashion,” and she was a “Certified Wish Granter” with the Make-A-Wish organization.”I think one thing people don’t realize is that Make-A-Wish children are often Children’s Miracle Network children,” Mund said. “While Children’s Miracle Network saves children’s lives, Make-A-Wish can enhance it.”
